Way back in 2010, Lindsay Scott of Arras People in the U.K. approached me to write a chapter for a book she was working on. At the time I thought “oh, it’s probably just an e-book or something. Sure I can do that.”
Then I found out exactly how massive her undertaking was. It turns out she was working with Dennis Lock (who contributed no less than thirteen chapters to this work). The two of them had decided that while there were loads of textbooks about project management out there, there was very little about the actual practitioners. It occurred to them that the actual people who practice this discipline every single day probably had a lot to say about the subject. So they reached out to forty-eight of us to contribute chapters on all kinds of topics.
Holy crap.
I can’t imagine how much work this book was. Just thinking about the coordination effort alone with so many authors gives me the heebie-jeebies. But Lindsay and Dennis pulled it off and created a phenomenal volume that covers off every facet of project management that you could ever imagine.
Seriously, guys. Well done.
To learn more about this wonderful book, read the authors’ bios and get free access to the first chapter and a website discount, visit Gower Publishing’s website.
Below you can meet all the other contributors of this great big book. I’ve had to organize them alphabetically in tabs, there’s just that many. Mouse over their faces and you can see the chapters they wrote and click to go to their websites. Do yourself a real favour and follow them, because their insights are just fantastic. I consider myself genuinely privileged to be included with such an august lineup of professionals.
PS: What’s supposed to happen above is that you mouse over a person’s face, and it magically flips around like a card, revealing a chapter name and link to the author’s website. If that’s not working for you, let me know in the contact form below – I’m still working kinks out of this template.
